This 8020 coupling cover/ housing is manufactured out of high quality aluminum so it's lightweight and easy to handle. Coupling covers have many benefits to them including; holding lubrication, cleaner operation, coupling assembly protection, and safety benefits. Holding in coupling assembly lubrication greatly increases the performance, working life, and durability of the internal components, this means you have less repairs to do which in turn means less down time. Often in medium to high speed rotating applications the grease that is on the chain tends to scatter due to the centrifugal force, with the coupling housing on the assembly grease splattering is prevented. In a lot of coupling assembly applications there is corrosion and or dust involved, this gets into the chain part of the assembly and causes friction, corrosion, and extremely accelerated wearing on all comments involved. A coupling housing will protect the chain and sprockets from getting corrosives, dust, or dirt into the assembly, which will greatly increase the operating life of the coupling in those conditions. Lastly, having a coupling housing creates a much neater looking operation along with creating a safer work environment.
