Description

A 1638 2RS bearing is a sealed single-row ball bearing made to ABEC 3 precision standards. The 1638 2RS is sealed on both sides with rubber seals. This sealed ball bearing maintains internal lubrication with Mobil Polyrex EM grease and remains clean for a longer period of time, thereby increasing the lifetime of the bearing. The 1638 bearing also lasts longer because the balls in the races more equally share the load; each ball is made to a high-precision standard, which means they are more uniform and likely to be in contact with the races. The 1638-2RS deep-groove ball bearing is one of the most versatile ball bearings, with the ability to carry a dynamic load of 2270 lbs and a static load of 1290 lbs. The finely honed and high-strength steel retainer provides low noise and vibration, and it is factory tested prior to shipment for consistent quality. This bearing is ideal for carrying radial loads, and applications include the automotive industry and electric motors, tools, appliances and generators.

AXIS 1638-2RS Ball Bearing Benefits

Grade-10 Balls vs. Grade-25
Grade 10 balls, normally found in ABEC 5 (or better), instead of grade 25. The grade 10 balls have tighter tolerances (+/- 0.05 micrometers versus +/- 100 micrometers). This ensures a rounder, more precise diameter ball and gives a longer life because the balls share the load evenly.
Steel Retainer vs. Glass Filled Nylon Retainer
Steel retainers out-last and outperform nylon retainers that are typically found on other bearings within the same class. Steel retainers especially out-perform Nylon in high-temp applications.
ABEC 3 Precision vs. ABEC 1
ABEC 3 tolerances provide superior precision, efficiency, and greater speed capabilities.
Finley Honed Raceways vs. Non-Honed
This reduces friction and vibration which results in longer bearing life and better performance.
Exxon Mobil Polyrex EM Grease
The highest quality bearing grease on the market, Exxon engineers have put in countless hours and testing to come up with the new standard for premium bearing grease. All AXIS ball bearings come pre-supplied with this grease versus a lower-quality grease found in standard bearings.
Individual Noise and Vibration Testing
Testing both the noise and vibration levels on each and every ball bearing before packing ensure that the quality and consistency will be on par with the quality expected from AXIS bearings.
Electric Motor Quality
Electric motor quality, also known as EMQ for short is an industry designation for a higher precision, higher quality bearing than the standard.
