Spindle bearings were first invented in 1907, then patented in 1912, and were used for wood carving machines that needed to rotate efficiently at very high speeds. They were then placed into industrial machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and more. From there a multitude of manufactures began production of their own spindle bearings and throughout the years' continual improvements to precision, metallurgy, and greases/ lubricants have brought these high-precision bearings to what they are now.
