Ribbon Flight Screw Conveyor Systems, Components & Parts
When handling sticky materials or for mixing needs a ribbon flight screw conveyor is recommended. Standard sections range from 6" up to 24" in diameter, we offer the ribbon flighting only or as a complete mounted screw assembly, along with a complete ribbon screw conveyor system. We also supply ribbon screws in specific materials such as stainless steel, Monel, or other specified. The pipes for ribbon flight screws feature seamless internal locking collars at each end are standardly fastened to the pipe with Nu-Weld lugs, eliminating the need to drill and fasten holes in the mounting pipe and therefore ensures a stronger unit.
Ribbon Screw Conveyor Design
The design aspect of a ribbon conveyor screw eliminates the issues that arise with sticky materials because the materials are unable to gather or minimally able to collect where the flights join the piping. There are three different types of ribbon flight conveyor screws; integral leg ribbon screw (standardly supplied), double flight ribbon screw, and post type ribbon screw.
Integral Leg Ribbon Screw
This style is the most common for conveying sticky materials and utilize the post as part of the ribbon flighting.
Double Flight Ribbon Screw For Mixing
Using a double flighting ribbon screw provided excellent mixing for dry materials, it also provides a more even discharge of material. The design consists of an outer ribbon and a smaller diameter inner ribbon of the opposite hand while both inner and outer flights utilize the same pitch. The design moves the material back and forth, resulting in a trough mixing action.
Post Type Ribbon Screw
Post type ribbon screws are designed to have the least amount of surface for material to stick to, this is because the ribbon is attached by round bars (post), this design also makes it easier for replacing the ribbon. This type of ribbon screw also possesses excellent mixing qualities, though double flight ribbon screws have the best mixing capabilities out of the three design types.
