Block chain utilizes one of the earliest designs of chain and is among the first Engineer Class industrial chains. Though extremely simplistic a blockchain is highly effective in doing what it was intended for and is still used in a wide range of industrial and conveyor applications around the world. It consists of a solid or laminated center link (block link) that is placed between link plates and held together with high-strength steel pins. This configuration provides a high capacity and effective surface carry area on top of the chain. Solid style block chains have solid sintered steel blocks and laminated style blocks are made with laminated steel plates. All block chains share a pitch size of 1" but the block links vary from 3/16" to 1/2" in width.
Commonly these chains will be found in light-load, low-speed applications. Something important to note is that it is recommended to use a plastic guide with block chains, this not only drastically increases the wear life of the chain but also reduces energy consumption. Standard tolerance for these chains is 0" up to 1/16" per foot. We can also supply anti-corrosive and high-temperature block chains that are made from a stainless steel material. Block chain sprockets are also available, for more information or to get a quote please contact us at sales@usarollerchain.com or give us a call!
